Feniarco Publishing - Announcement of selection

Feniarco continues with its publishing project for the widening of the Italian choral repertoire and calls new selection announcements for the publication of the volumes: Giro Giro Canto 4 and 5, Melos 3 and Teenc@nta 2. World Youth Choir

On occasion of the summer session, that will be held from 5th July to 29th July 2010 in Tenerife, Canry Island (Spain), new young singers will have the opportunity of joining the World Youth Choir. The entrusted directors for this session are Ragnar Rasmussen (Norway) and Josep Vila I Casañas (Spain).

New President of Europa Cantat is Sante Fornasier

We have the great pleasure to communicate to all of you that the new president of Europa Cantat is Sante Fornasier. Its election has sprung from the majority of the preferences received by the General Assembly, held in Sofia (Bulgaria) on Saturday, 13th November, called to re-elect the Board, and from the following unanimity vote of the newly elected Board.

inDIRECTION: meetings’ ending

The meetings for the conductors that have stuck to the initiative inDIRECTIONare about to end. These appointments follow the online phase of the same initiative that has involved around 80 conductors all over Italy in a path focused on the non musical skills of choral conductors. The calendar of the last appointments of November is the following: Saturday 21st in Turin, Sunday 22nd in Castelfranco Veneto (Tv), Saturday 28th in Rome, Sunday 29th in Bari.

Europa Cantat General Assembly

From 13th to 15th November in Sofia (Bulgaria) the Europa Cantat General Assembly was held. On 12th and 13th November, before the Assembly, the Board, the Musical Commission and the Youth Committee had a meeting for the renewal of the positions. For Italy were present Feniarco President Sante Fornasier, member of the Board, the National Secretary Lorenzo Benedet, M° Alexander Cadario, member of Europa Cantat Youth Committee and other representatives of the Regional Choral Associations.

Feniarco National Assembly

On Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th October the National Assembly was held in San Vito al Tagliamento (PN), at the seat of Feniarco and the Regional Choral Association of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Torino 2012 - XVIII Europa Cantat Festival

We are glad to tell everybody that Europa Cantat Board on 13th and 14th February decided definitively to assign to Feniarco and to the City of Turin the XVIII edition of Europa Cantat Festival in 2012.

IFCM General Assembly

From 23rd to 25th October the General Assembly of IFCM (International Federation for Choral Music) was held in Örebro (Sweden). For the occasion the World Youth Choir performed in a concert directed by Fred Sjöberg, in the proposed repertoire was performed also the work Maternitas Tua by the Italian maestro and composer Andrea Venturini.

On 24th and 25th October Bari will host the fourth meeting for choral conductors that have stuck to the initiative inDIRECTION. On Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September Feniarco Artistic Commission met in Rome. They have treated various themes during the meeting, among which: new publishing projects, education programs, updating on the scheduled events for 2010 and on the Europe Cantat Festival XVIII Torino 2012.

European Academy for Choral Conductors and Singers

From 6 to 13 September 2009, the lovely town of Fano (Pesaro-Urbino) will host the 5th edition of the European Academy for Choir Conductors and Singers. This edition will focus on vocal pop music in choral arrangements, under the guidance of Swedish choir conductor Fred Sjöberg and his assistant Stefan Berglund. The Academy will end with a concert on Saturday 12 September at 21 in Teatro della Fortuna, conducted by the best pupils.

Alpe Adria Cantat 2009

The International Choral Singing Week Alpe Adria Cantat will take place in Lignano Sabbiadoro (Udine) from 30 August to 6 September 2009. World famous directors, specialised ateliers, concerts by the participant choirs (and much more!) await more than 300 singers from all over Italy and Europe in the sunny Italian seaside. Alpe Adria Cantat: a must-go-to event! Opening concert on Sunday 30 September, 9 p.m.: Genova Vocal Ensemble and Janua Vox, conductor Roberta Paraninfo.

Europa Cantat XVII Utrecht Festival 2009

The biggest event of the European choral world is just around the corner, the Festival Europa Cantat XVII will be held in Utrecht, the Netherlands, July 17-26. Many Italian choirs will participate and Feniarco will be present with two stands at the Expo for publishing and with House Feniarco near the Cathedral Square, a place of meeting and reception for the Italian choirs, for the European delegations, for directors, conductors, guests and authorities.

Project inDIRECTION

Solidarity for the Abruzzo Region

The terrible earthquake that hit L’Aquila and some centres of the Abruzzo region came to us as a shock. We offer our condolences for the victims and our most concerned emotional nearness to all those who have been hit by the catastrophe. In particular we want that our friends from Abruzzo choirs feel the active nearness of all Italian amatorial choral world by opening a subscription to raise funds. Their destination will be agreed with ARCA (Associazione Regionale Cori Abruzzo) to find the intervention fields. Dai LA alla Musica

The National Committee for the practical learning of music (within MIUR and chaired by Luigi Berlinguer) promoted within schools the 2nd edition of the Music Week, held from 4th to 10th May 2009. During this week the Forum for Music Education, to which also Feniarco participates, proposed the initiative Dai il La alla Musica with the collective “Entry” on 7th May at 11 a.m. in public schools and 18.00 in the other music schools.

Spring Festival 2009

On Saturday, 25th April, the second weekend of the Spring Festival for high school choirs ended with a big concert. In the two weekends more than 900 children arrived in Montecatini Terme (Pt). From 17th to 19th April the junior high school choirs and from 23rd to 26th April 23-26 the high school choirs (look the photogallery). The young singers participated enthusiastically to the workshops and to the concerts in the surroundings. Hours of study but also fun and new knowledges. Sunday, 17th May 2009 the National Day of Popular and Amateur Music was held in Rome. The event, organized by the Ministry for Cultural Heritage, was attended by choirs, bands and folk groups from all over Italy. Four groups from the region Abruzzo were representing choirs.

Spring festival: high schools are coming

From 17th to 19th April the first weekend of the Spring Festival was held successfully in Montecatini Terme (Pt) involving junior high-school choirs (photogallery). Now it’s high-school choirs turn, more than 600 teenagers will come to the nice thermal city on Thursday, 23rd April. They will participate to the ateliers, to the concerts in the surroundings and to the Great Final Concert that will be held in the prestigious Nuovo Teatro Verdi on Saturday, 25th April at 9 p.m. Maybe6ix will open the weekend on Thursday, 23rd April , an appointment not to be lost!

The Spring Festival 2009 is starting

Such a crowd of singers has never been seen before. They will populate the beautiful city of Montecatini Terme for two weekends. More than 900 applicants coming from all over Italy including the islands. 8 ateliers will be activated, 11 concerts will be held in the surroundings and two great concerts at the end of each weekend. For the Spring Festival also the vocal group Maybe6ix is coming to Montecatini. Of great quality, with their original arrangements they will propose the best of Italian music.

On 13th and 14th February Europa Cantat Board met at the Haus Der Kultur in Bonn (Germany), Europa Cantat seat. There were Feniarco President Sante Fornasier as Board Member, the National Secretary Lorenzo Benedet and Alessandro Cadario as member of Europa Cantat Youth Committee. There were many issues on the agenda, among which the planning for the next three years, the Festival in Utrecht in 2009 and the final decision about the candidature of Turin for the Europa Cantat Festival XVIII in 2012.
